My name is Laura Kane and I am an Assistant Professor of Fashion Design at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, WI. I am currently a Ph.D candidate at Oregon State University with plans to complete my degree in the summer of 2016. I hold a BS in Fashion Design and Retailing with a concentration in Fashion Design in addition to a minor in Art. My current research focuses on participants of cosplay and their use of social media.
My creative scholarship has been showcased at the International Textiles and Apparel Association's 2014, 2013 and 2012 conference and Costume Society of America's 2013 and 2015 annual conference.
My research projects have been presented at the 2014 Design Principles and Practices annual conference and the International Textiles and Apparel Association's 2015 + 2014 annual conference.
I enjoy designing evening gowns, wedding dresses, costumes for recreational costuming and theatre, as well as Cosplay, Gothic and Lolita style fashion, and fantasy costumes.
